Get a refund from PlayStation Store

So you want a refund for a purchase at PlayStation Store. Fortunately, the process is a bit easier than getting a refund on Switch games, although there are restrictions to stop misuse of Sony's refund system.

We give this in more detail below, but it is worth noting that with each refund the money is transferred to your PSN wallet and not to the original bank account used to pay for the content.

Games DLC

If you want to receive a refund for games, DLC, themes, avatars and season passes, the good news is that you have 14 days to request a refund. The catch?

You are not eligible for a refund if you have started downloading or streaming the content unless the content is somehow defective (for example, buggy and non-playable).

If you are eligible for a refund for accidentally purchased games, DLC, themes, avatars and seasonal passes, simply complete the refund request form on the Sony website.

Pre-orders

What about games that have not yet been released? You can get a refund on pre-ordered content, but the conditions vary depending on when you placed a pre-order.

If you have reserved the content more than 14 days prior to the release, you can request a refund at any time up to the release without asking. For those who have reserved less than 14 days prior to release, you can request a refund up to 14 days after the date of purchase.

The same rules as above apply here too; if you have already downloaded the content, chances are that your refund will not be honored by Sony.

If you are eligible for a refund of a recent reservation, complete the request return form on the Sony website.

Subscriptions

Subscription refunds are slightly more complicated than other types of refunds in PlayStation Store. The good news is that you can request a refund within 14 days of purchase, but the amount that is refunded depends on how much you have used the service.

In the case of PlayStation Plus, the reimbursement amount is reduced if you have used the service to play online, download monthly games, use cloud storage, etc.

It is also worth noting that free trial periods are included in the 14-day period , so don't assume you have 14 days after the test ends.

As with other content in the PlayStation Store, you can complete a refund request form here for a refund of the subscription.
